My thoughts....

As I am slowly learning about the importance of family and the stories about our history, I realize that if we do not work to save those memories they will be lost for ever. It really hit me what I was missing when my Uncle John (my mom’s uncle) was put into the nursing home after a short stay in the hospital.

Uncle John is one of eight children from George "Geo" (1887-1932) and Mary (1892-1981) Haluczik. Their children were: Kathleen Mary, Michael Tony, Paul George, Pauline, Sophia Ann, John Joseph, Frank, and Jenny. Geo and Mary met in a Polish community in Chicago after traveling from the same community in Poland on different ships. They married on May 11, 1912. They had five children in Chicago: Anthony (infant death), Kathleen(1913-2005), Michael Tony (1914-1973), Paul George (1916-1986), and Pauline (1919-1999). It wasn't until 1920 that they moved in town in Newark, Ohio. Sophua Ann (1921-2008), John Joseph (1923), Frank (1925-2008), Jenny (1927), and Betty Ann (1931-1932) were born in Newark.

In 1937 Mary and Katie bought a piece, of property. They purchased two parcels of land in Madison Township, Range 11, Township 2, and Quarter Township 2 (I believe this is the hay field across the road from the house).

It wasn't until after World War II that the house that is currently standing on the farm was built by the boys.
